Fashionably Fun Learning Curve - The First Descendant

Image
If TikTok is your go-to social media platform while waiting for Genshin Impact to load, I doubt you haven’t heard the name The First Descendant in the last few weeks. The game has not only taken over ad space on the TikTok app but also features funny clips that have already been uploaded, giving it a competitive edge in piquing interest—especially since it launched on a Tuesday. Developed by the popular South Korean game company Nexon, you might already be familiar with them through their development of MapleStory. The First Descendant was released on PC and consoles on the same day. It’s kind of neat that you can see who is playing on what system above players' heads. Humanity is in trouble as their home planet, Ingris, is threatened by an advanced, war-hungry alien race: the Vulgus. The Vulgus invaded Ingris to find the Ironhearts hidden beneath the surface, lying dormant and unknown to humanity. Ironhearts are infinite sources of energy and, as we see later, h...

Searching Your Soul - Summer Ghost

Image
Summer has a reputation for being filled with potential. Warm sunny days that stretch on forever causing motivation to run high. People start dreaming on cool summer nights sitting under the stars. Summer is often seen as a transitional period as people step away from work and experience new things. Our story begins on a ghost-hunting forum where three strangers decide to trust each other enough to chase an urban legend. Our ghost-hunting trio consists of a girl named Aoi, and two ...

As the stories start to outdo themselves every season, the cracks in the weaker plotlines begin to show. In this case, I’m talking about One Piece, which I thought of originally as almost untouchable. However, the consensus from enough of the fanbase is to skip Skypiea. I started watching One Piece a few months ago, and as I came face to face with the first episode of Skypiea, I had a lot of feelings. Then the show moved on, and I had even more feelings. Skypiea isn’t bad, but I get it. Skypiea pulls viewers in with a mystery when an ancient boat falls from the sky, nearly crushing the Straw Hat crew. The log pose is pointed up, and a choice is presented: keep pushing forward or follow the idea of a fairy tale. Luffy, not one to shy away from the possibility of a grand adventure, investigates the story of the mythical city of Skypiea. This season is the first time I beli...
